BACKGROUND
Unifor: The First Year was an incredibly fun and rewarding shoot that documented several success stories of Unifor members across Canada. The "road trip" conceit of the shoot allowed us to capture some very poignant moments with these affable working-class Canadians where we could reveal them as people first and foremost. Another important aspect for me was to demonstrate that the struggles and dreams for these people were the same no matter how much geography separated them.
On an anecdotal note, Unifor: The First Year represents the first project which I directed but did not edit.
